Description

As a critical non-magnetic component installed in the lower section of the drill string (adjacent to the bottom hole assembly, BHA, and drill bit) for directional drilling, MWD/LWD (Logging While Drilling), and complex well operations, lower non-magnetic drill pipes are designed to withstand extreme bottom hole conditions and provide precise non-magnetic protection for near-bit sensors. Their core functionalities are as follows:

A high-precision non-magnetic zone is established in the vicinity of the drill bit to eradicate magnetic interference from lower drill collars, stabilizers, or formation magnetic anomalies-this ensures precise measurement by near-bit MWD/LWD sensors (e.g., trajectory detectors, formation lithology probes) and dependable acquisition of real-time bottom hole data (well deviation, azimuth, formation pressure).

Boasting a thickened wall design and high-strength material, they stably transmit drilling torque, axial load, and drilling fluid between the upper drill string and bottom hole tools (drill bit, stabilizers, suspension subs), standing up to extreme bottom hole conditions (high temperature, high pressure, intense vibration, and formation abrasion).

Acting as a connecting bridge between the upper drill string and BHA, they adopt precision-machined threads to secure tight sealing and anti-loosening performance, precluding drilling fluid leakage or tool disconnection under cyclic bottom hole loads.

They adapt to complex bottom hole trajectories (e.g., horizontal well sections, short-radius turns), balancing structural rigidity and flexibility to curb drill string drag and torque dissipation while preserving wellbore integrity in deviated bottom hole segments.

Oil & Gas Drilling

In directional and horizontal wells, these components are installed adjacent to the drill bit. They establish magnetic isolation for nearby MWD tools, thereby ensuring accurate navigation through lateral wellbores and precise access to narrowly defined target zones.

For unconventional resource development, such as shale oil and gas operations, their design accommodates abrasive shale geology across extended horizontal sections. Their integration mitigates drill string vibration and enables reliable data gathering necessary for subsequent fracturing activities.

Offshore & Deepwater Drilling

Deepwater high-pressure wells: Resist seawater corrosion and high external pressure, providing a non-magnetic environment for near-bit sensors in subsea bottom hole assemblies and ensuring accurate measurement of deepwater reservoir data.

Subsea directional drilling: Stabilize the lower drill string in unconsolidated seabed formations, preventing wellbore collapse and maintaining non-magnetic performance for subsea MWD systems.

Since 2009, SHANXI ZHONGHE has specialized in the development and production of non-magnetic drilling tools. We maintain complete control over the entire manufacturing process, which includes the smelting, forging, and machining of non-magnetic materials. With strict quality control implemented at every stage, each individual product undergoes thorough inspection throughout the production process. We strictly adhere to the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and primarily utilize materials graded P530, P550, and P650 in our manufacturing processes.
